About Noland Health

Founded originally from the visionary work of Dr. Lloyd Noland in 1913, Noland Health Services, Inc. is a private, not-for-profit corporation based in Birmingham, Alabama. Its mission is to deliver healthcare services to communities across Alabama via senior living communities and specialty hospitals.

Dr. Lloyd Noland arrived in Jefferson County, Alabama in 1913 and established a comprehensive healthcare facility to address public health needs such as smallpox and typhoid. The current corporate entity was officially founded in 1951 and continues his legacy today.

Noland Health is structured as a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization. It is independent and nonprofit, not publicly traded and not part of a REIT or private equity chain.

The chain operates entirely in Alabama, managing ten senior living communities offering a full spectrum of care levels, as well as several long-term acute care hospitals (LTACHs). It employs over 2,700 staff, generated program revenues of approximately $162 million and total revenues around $180 million as of the fiscal year ending June 2025.

Noland Health includes two main divisions: a Senior Living Division offering assisted living, memory care, skilled nursing, independent living, and related services; and a Hospital Division operating LTACHs that deliver extended acute care in partnership with general acute care hospitals.
