About Cardon & Associates
CarDon & Associates was founded in 1977 when Carroll and Donna Moore opened their first senior community in Greenwood, Indiana. For over four decades, their family has continued the company tradition: of their children, five became licensed nursing home administrators and four serve on the company's board of directors.
CarDon operates as a private, family-owned senior living organization. It remains led by members of the Moore family, with Dr. Stephen G. Moore having served as CEO and President from 2000 to October 2021 before transitioning to board leadership roles. In March 2025, Kent Rodgers—who joined CarDon as CFO in 2006—announced his retirement, marking the end of his tenure as the first non-family member to serve as President and CEO.
Headquartered in Bloomington (and Fishers), Indiana, CarDon operates 20 communities across central and southern Indiana counties including Marion, Monroe, Hamilton, Hendricks, Johnson, Brown, Dubois, Greene, Orange, and Vanderburgh. The communities provide a full continuum of care—from independent living to memory support and skilled nursing—under their “Family‑First Senior Living” model.
CarDon is among the largest senior living operators in Indiana. According to CMS‑derived data, the chain comprises 20 skilled nursing facilities with an average overall CMS rating of approximately 3.8 stars, including seven 5‑star facilities and one 1‑star; they average 3.47 nurse staffing hours per resident per day and operate solely within Indiana.
