About Wesleylife

WesleyLife traces its origins to 1947 when it began as a single retirement community in central Iowa. Since then, it has expanded into a comprehensive, nonprofit senior services provider offering both congregate living ('communities for healthy living') and home‑based care options across Iowa and parts of Illinois.

As a 501(c)(3) supporting organization (EIN 30‑0577845), WesleyLife was founded in 2009 as its current legal entity and achieved tax‑exempt status in November 2010. Its operations in 2024 included eight 'communities for healthy living' in Iowa under Wesley Retirement Services, Inc., serving nearly 13,000 residents, clients, and participants, with more than 2,000 staff members.

WesleyLife holds affiliation with about ten skilled nursing facilities in Iowa, per CMS‑derived data. These include facilities such as Edgewater (West Des Moines), Halcyon House (Washington), Heritage House (Atlantic), Brio of Johnston, Park Centre (Newton), Fieldstone of DeWitt, among others.

The organization operates a full continuum of senior services—independent living, assisted living, memory support, short‑term rehab, long‑term care, adult day services, palliative and hospice care, in‑home services such as home health, non‑medical assistance, meals on wheels, and more. WesleyLife also emphasizes being Iowa’s only fully integrated nonprofit home‑based care provider.

Its CMS‑affiliated facilities show an average of about 0.5 serious deficiencies over the past three years, an average of 4.3 nurse hours per resident per day, average nursing staff turnover of 43.6%, and average fines per home of $9,068.
