About United Church Homes

United Church Homes began in 1916 when it opened its first 'home for the aged' in Upper Sandusky, Ohio. It is a faith-inspired nonprofit tied to the United Church of Christ; its history includes growth from a single home into an organization managing over 90 communities across 15 states and two Native American nations.

The chain delivers a broad spectrum of services: affordable housing, independent living, assisted living, memory care, skilled nursing, fast-track rehab, home health, NaviGuide (service coordination), home care, and hospice. UCH also offers management services through United Church Homes Management (UCHM) to other senior living communities, including CCRCs, skilled nursing, assisted living, and affordable housing operators.

In scale, UCH is recognized as one of the largest nonprofit senior living organizations in the U.S.: as of late 2025 they served nearly 7,000 residents in more than 90 communities across 15 states and two tribal nations, and ranked 19th among multisite nonprofit senior living providers, according to the 2024 LeadingAge Ziegler 200 ranking.

UCH’s mission emphasizes transforming aging, promoting dignity, choice, inclusion, and community, rooted in values of community, wholeness, and peace and extending to inclusive care regardless of background.
