About Touchstone Communities
Touchstone Communities, headquartered in San Antonio, Texas, is a privately held operator of multiple skilled-nursing and rehabilitation facilities across Texas, including management of Texas State Veterans Homes. Founded in 1992 by Stan Studer, Jr., it emerged from an earlier entity, Care Inn Properties Inc., with its roots in long-term care operations beginning in 1991.
The company is privately held, with founding leadership remaining involved. Stan Studer Jr. serves as Chairman, and Carl Fellbaum, an early partner since 1997, has been Chief Executive Officer since January 2017. The company manages a mix of for-profit facilities, including veterans homes operated under contract with the Texas Veterans Land Board.
Touchstone operates roughly 30 skilled nursing communities, four Texas State Veterans Homes, and one assisted living community across Texas as of late 2024. By mid-2025, that expanded to 36 properties with the opening of The Heights® of Magnolia.
Touchstone’s services include short-term and post-hospital recovery, skilled nursing, long-term care, memory care, rehabilitation therapy, in-house dialysis, pulmonary care, concierge medical care, and veteran-focused skilled care—offered all across Texas.
