About The Baptist Home

Founded in 1913 by Dr. Milford and Mary Riggs (initially as the Missouri Home for Aged Baptists), The Baptist Home began in Ironton, Missouri, to serve aging members of Missouri Baptist churches.

Over time, the ministry expanded from a single location to multiple campuses; in recent decades it has grown to four or more campuses, each with a campus pastor to support residents’ spiritual needs.

The organization is a faith-based, nonprofit entity structured as a consolidated organization comprising The Baptist Homes, Inc. (the Home) and The Baptist Homes Foundation. The Foundation exists to financially support the Home’s mission through donations and investment income, with governance by the Home’s board.

Its services span licensed skilled nursing care, intermediate care, assisted living, and independent living apartments across Missouri campuses.

The ministry emphasizes a distinctively Christian, Gospel-informed worldview, with a mission “to joyfully serve in a Christlike manner by educating, advocating, and caring for the aging for the glory of God.”
