Riverside Health System

Riverside Health System traces its roots back to the early 20th century, beginning when Dr. Samuel W. Hobson rallied local support to build a small hospital in Newport News circa 1910. Over time, it evolved into a comprehensive regional health system, now offering acute care hospitals, specialty hospitals, outpatient clinics, home health and hospice care, and educational programs.

The organization operates as a nonprofit corporation under the legal name Riverside Healthcare Association, Inc., commonly d/b/a 'Riverside Health System.' It holds numerous subsidiaries and affiliates serving various care sectors, including senior living, rehabilitation, homecare, and fitness services.

Within its Lifelong Health Division, Riverside directly oversees its nursing home operations, branded under names such as Riverside Lifelong Health & Rehabilitation. CMS data confirms that this chain comprises six affiliated nursing home facilities in Virginia. One example—Riverside Lifelong Health & Rehabilitation Salud—is owned 100% by Riverside Healthcare Association, Inc. and managed under the Lifelong Health umbrella.
