About Presbyterian Manors of Mid-America

PMMA originated from a request in 1947 by Alice Kalb, a 90-year-old widow from central Kansas, who asked a Presbyterian Church body to create a safe home for her; this led to founding their first community, Newton Presbyterian Manor, opening in Newton, Kansas, in 1949.

Over time, PMMA grew from that single location to a network of 16 senior living communities across Kansas, Missouri, and Colorado. It remains guided by Christian values and operates as a not-for-profit organization with a volunteer board of trustees.

Its communities cover a broad continuum—from independent living, assisted living, memory care, long-term care, to short-term rehabilitation (PATH®)—and include a new Life Plan Community in Colorado Springs (Aberdeen Ridge). Through programs like the Good Samaritan Program, PMMA provides charitable care to residents who outlive their financial resources.

PMMA also includes Heart & Soul Hospice in Farmington, Missouri, as part of its network and service offerings.
