About Lorien Health Services
Lorien Health Services began in 1977 when Nicholas and Mary Mangione founded the organization with a family-centric vision, and it remains family-owned and operated today.
Over the years, the chain has grown to include nine senior care communities—spanning assisted living, skilled nursing, and specialized services—located in Baltimore, Howard, Harford, and Carroll counties in Maryland.
The company offers a continuum of care, including assisted living, sub-acute rehabilitation/skilled nursing, ventilator care, Parkinson’s wellness, Korean-culture focused care units, telemedicine, hospice, and more.
Ownership remains in the Mangione family, with management provided through Maryland Health Enterprises, Inc. The chain is run as a for-profit corporation.
The facilities are known for integrating assisted living and skilled nursing under one organizational umbrella and offering culturally tailored services (e.g., Korean senior care).
