Franciscan Sisters of Christian Charity

The Franciscan Sisters of Christian Charity are a Roman Catholic religious congregation founded November 9, 1869, in Manitowoc, Wisconsin, under the guidance of Father Joseph Fessler. Over time, they became involved in ministries including education, healthcare, and spiritual services.

In 1985, the Congregation established Franciscan Sisters of Christian Charity Sponsored Ministries, Inc. (FSCCM), formerly known as FSCC HealthCare Ministry, as a not-for-profit corporation to oversee and manage their health care and related ministries. FSCCM is headquartered in Manitowoc, Wisconsin, with offices at 1415 South Rapids Road (corporate office), and the Motherhouse or convent is Holy Family Convent at 2409 South Alverno Road, Manitowoc.

FSCCM oversees operating entities across three states—Wisconsin, Nebraska, and Ohio—including hospitals and long-term care operations. Key affiliates include Froedtert Holy Family Memorial in Manitowoc (WI), Franciscan Healthcare in West Point (NE), and Genesis HealthCare System in Zanesville (OH), as well as senior-living services such as St. Paul Elder Services in Kaukauna (WI) and McCormick Home in Green Bay (WI).

The system supports more than 4,000 employees. FSCCM functions not as an investment arm but as a mission-based operating entity where its assets are the licensed facilities themselves. Governance and capital decisions are coordinated with its affiliates and partner networks, including participation in bond issuances via the Wisconsin Health and Educational Facilities Authority and collaboration with the Catholic Health Association.

Though FSCCM sponsors and directs healthcare and educational ministries, I found no outright marketing about 'skilled-nursing', but skilled-nursing care is included under long-term care offerings within facilities it owns and operates.
