About Evertrue
EverTrue, formerly known as Lutheran Senior Services, traces its roots back to 1858 with the founding of the Lutheran Hospital in St. Louis by Reverend Johann Friedrich Buenger. In 1906, the Lutheran Altenheim Society opened a boarding home for the elderly. These two mission-driven entities merged in 1996 to become Lutheran Senior Services, which rebranded to EverTrue in 2025.
EverTrue is a nonprofit, faith-based organization rooted in the Lutheran tradition. It has grown into one of the largest aging-services nonprofits based in Missouri and the broader region.
The organization provides a continuum of senior services—offering skilled nursing care, affordable housing, Life Plan Communities (Continuing Care Retirement Communities), home-based services such as PACE, hospice, and adult day health. Its operations span multiple states, including Missouri, Illinois, and Pennsylvania.
Regarding its corporate structure, EverTrue is a nonprofit entity, historically linked to Lutheran-affiliated charitable organizations and currently functioning under a mission-driven nonprofit governance with a board of directors.
EverTrue has expanded significantly in recent years: in 2024 it acquired operations in Pennsylvania, becoming one of the largest nonprofit aging services providers in the U.S., with revenue growing approximately 50–55% as its services and footprint extended.
Recent accomplishments include the affiliation with St. Andrew’s Resources for Seniors System in Missouri, which added multiple communities and in-home care services (over 425 employees), and earning 33 “Best” ratings in the 2026 U.S. News & World Report Best Senior Living awards for its Life Plan Communities.
