About Covenant Living

Covenant Living Communities and Services is an Illinois-based nonprofit corporation affiliated with the Evangelical Covenant Church. It operates a variety of retirement, assisted living, skilled nursing, and home- and community-based care services.

The organization traces its roots to 1886, when the Evangelical Covenant Church founded the “Home of Mercy” in Chicago to care for the frail elderly, orphans, and the sick. This early outreach evolved over more than a century into the modern senior living ministry it is today.

Covenant Living is structured as a nonprofit and maintains affiliation with Covenant Ministries of Benevolence (CMB), overseen by the Evangelical Covenant Church’s Board of Benevolence. It owns and operates its nursing homes and related services directly through consolidated subsidiaries.

The organization operates about 15 skilled nursing facilities affiliated under the Covenant Living chain, across states including California, Colorado, Connecticut, Florida, Illinois, Michigan, Minnesota, New Hampshire, Oklahoma and Washington.

Beyond skilled nursing, Covenant Living offers Continuum of Care Retirement Community (CCRC) services, assisted living, independent living, home health, hospice, rehabilitation, group purchasing, and consulting.

This nonprofit chain is mission‑driven, faith‑based, and supports a range of senior living options—from community-based home services to skilled inpatient care—under one organizational umbrella.
