About Christian Care Communities
Christian Care Communities was founded in 1884 and began as the Christian Church Widows' and Orphans' Home of Kentucky to provide shelter and care to widows and orphans associated with Christian Churches across Kentucky. It has evolved into Kentucky’s largest faith-inspired, non-profit provider of affordable senior housing and long-term care for older adults.
The organization is structured as a not-for-profit corporation affiliated with Christian Churches ('Disciples of Christ') and includes 26 incorporated and unincorporated affiliates, one of which is a management company.
Christian Care Communities operates approximately 10 communities across Kentucky, including Louisville, Bowling Green, Corbin, Grayson, Hopkinsville, Lexington, Midway, Nicholasville, Owensboro, and Taylorsville, providing services such as independent living, assisted living, skilled nursing, short-term rehabilitation, long-term care, and adult day care. The Obligated Group includes several health centers and facilities, offering a range of care options.
Christian Care Communities runs five health centers across Kentucky that offer nursing, rehabilitation, and dementia care, including short-term rehab ('Rehab to Home') following hospital stays. Additionally, CMS data indicate an affiliation with five nursing facilities in Kentucky.
