About Buckner Retirement Services
Buckner Retirement Services is part of Buckner International—a faith‑based nonprofit with roots in an orphans’ home founded in 1879 in Dallas, Texas. Over time, the ministry expanded to include senior living and care throughout Texas.
Founded in 1954 with the opening of the Mary E. Trew Home in Dallas, it grew to include Buckner Villas in Austin (1970), Westminster Place in Longview (1996), Parkway Place in Houston (1998), and Ventana by Buckner in Dallas (opened 2019). In 2024, The Stayton at Museum Way in Fort Worth became the seventh retirement community added to their ministry.
Buckner Retirement Services is a faith‑based, nonprofit provider, meaning that instead of distributing profits to shareholders, surplus funds are reinvested into the communities. It also offers charity care when residents outlive their savings.
It operates communities across Texas, including in Austin, Beaumont, Dallas, Fort Worth, Houston, Longview, and San Angelo, providing a full continuum of care from independent living to skilled nursing.
Buckner Retirement Services is part of the broader Buckner International nonprofit, which is headquartered in Dallas and runs senior living along with child and family services programs nationally and internationally.
