About Bedford Care Centers
In the 1970s, Mike McElroy entered the long‑term care industry by purchasing a single nursing home in Hattiesburg, Mississippi; this effort grew over time into Bedford Care Centers, now one of the largest locally owned skilled‑nursing groups in the state.
Through the years, the organization expanded to approximately seven or eight facilities across central and southern Mississippi, and developed related services including an institutional pharmacy, staffing relief via HMP Nursing Services, Inc., and private‑duty care through Bedford at Home.
Bedford Care Centers operate under a family‑owned corporate structure. The properties are managed through several Mississippi‑limited corporations such as Bedford Care Center‑Warren Hall, LLC (founded in 2001), and Bedford Alzheimer’s Care Center, LLC (established in 2004). Management is overseen by Hattiesburg Medical Park Management Corporation and affiliated family trusts.
